Midwest Poultry Services has recalled approximately 1,589,577 dozen eggs over possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall covers certain white and brown cage-free eggs produced and distributed from Texas farms between June 6 and July 3, 2026. Affected cartons have sell-by or best-by dates from July 20 through August 17, 2026.

Check Your Egg Carton

Affected cartons have:

  • Plant code P-1950 or 0840962
  • Julian dates from 157 to 184
  • Sell-by or best-by dates from July 20 to August 17, 2026

The FDA product table shows the second code as 840962, without the leading zero.

Brands Named in the Recall

Certain products sold under Kroger, Simple Truth, Brookshire’s, Country Morning, and Sunups are included. Bulk foodservice packages are also affected.

Not every product from these brands is recalled. Check the carton’s UPC, plant code, and date against the complete FDA list.

Where Were the Eggs Sold?

The eggs reached retail and foodservice customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.

Some were also sold through Kroger, Brookshire Grocery, and smaller retailers across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

What Should You Do?

If your eggs match the description, do not eat them. Instead, photograph the carton, save your receipt if available, and return the product to the purchase store for a refund.

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. Contact a healthcare professional if you have concerning symptoms.
